WAVE Project – University of Limerick

I-Form visit to Univeristy of Limerick

L to R: Prof. Amira Mahdi (UL), Bekan Mekonen (UL), Prof. Konstantinos Salonitis (UCD), John Oliver (UCD), Prof Tiziana Margaria (UL), Prof. Patrick Kiely (UL), Cathal Hoare (UL), Eoin O Suillivan (UL), Thamizhiniyan Natarajan (UL).

We were delighted to welcome John Oliver (I-Form Centre Manager) and Prof. Konstantinos Salonitos, who was recently appointed the I-Form Centre Director to the University of Limerick this week.

The I-Form Research Centre on Advanced Manufacturing is a key adopter of Wave. I-Form researches new materials and their processing, specifically with new 3D printing technologies, adopting and producing digital technologies to develop, model and control the processes. Wave was initially introduced through their ’AI for Advanced Manufacturing’ Platform, but use cases for the technology are in development
across I-Form’s other Platforms; ’Product and Process Modelling’ and ’Manufacturing Process Development’.

During the visit, the WAVE platform and current research collaborations relevant to I-Form were discussed, along with the plans for education and training on the platform that will be available to the I-Form community. The visit also served as an opportunity for Prof. Salonitis to meet the I-Form funded researchers at UL as well as the wider WAVE team.
