Bekan Mekonen is a PhD Student at the University of Limerick, affiliated with the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems and the I-Form Research Ireland Centre for Advanced Manufacturing. His research lies at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and emerging digital technologies, with a particular focus on enabling intelligent, connected, and adaptive manufacturing systems.
As part of the Platform 3 research strand within I-Form, he focuses on developing scalable and user-centric approaches for the seamless integration of data, processes, and systems across the manufacturing lifecycle. Prior to commencing his PhD, he served as an academic staff member at Jimma University, where he was actively involved in teaching and research. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an M.Sc. in Computer Networking from Jimma University, Ethiopia.
